Announcing: The Carnforth Collections Volume 1

Derek and Maureen Haynes

Derek Haynes was a much-loved Society country dance and Highland teacher in the latter part of the 20th century, and also a regular deviser of dances. The Carnforth Collections were published between 1991 and 2008 by Derek and his wife Maureen, and comprise 60 dances, many demonstrating the innovation for which he had become well-known.

It is with great pleasure that this year the Society is publishing The Carnforth Collections: Volume 1, covering the first three collections in one book, together with a recording made by Liam Stewart and his Band.

The publication and recording will be launched prior to RSCDS Summer School and other dancing schools, with an online presentation, videos of dances and discussions in The Blether and other media.
