Class Musician at Ashill Scottish Dancers

Norman Yeaman

To have a musician to play for class here in Somerset is a real treat and on Tuesday 1st October we were delighted to be able to welcome local musician and accordion player Norman Yeaman from Frome to play for us and Hazel Ridd kindly offered to accompany him on the village hall piano - a real treat indeed.

Over 4 sets of dancers including a few from Exeter, Chardstock and Yeovil enjoyed the delights of dancing to live music. We were able to practice steps and the Rondel formation with Norman supplying eight bars of Strathspey music as and when required . We all enjoyed a good selection of dances, including our core dance Maxwell's Rant, London Bridge featuring the Rondel, The Laird Of Milton's Daughter, The Swan And The Tay, Good Hearted Glasgow, Scott Meikle and finishing with De'il Amang The Tailors.

Huge thanks go to Norman for playing for us. Our beginners and less experienced dancers thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to dance to music provided by a live musician and it really lifts their dancing to the next level. Our next musician evening is on the 26th November when we welcome back Chris Toyne to play for us. Please check out our web site for more info at www.ashillscd.wordpress.com

We meet every Tuesday evening 7.30 to 9.30 at Horton Village Hall Nr Ilminster in Somerset. We are an affiliated group. Everyone is welcome and a great evening is guaranteed.
