Edinburgh Branch demonstration teams at AG
November 27, 2024
Edinburgh Branch's combined children and adult demonstration teams were delighted to entertain guests at the RSCDS Autumn Gathering Ball. This was a very exciting occasion for the children.
Our medley celebrated 100 years of Edinburgh Branch with dances from our recently released Centenary book of 14 new dances and music along with some old favourites.
The dances are:
R Joppa Rocks devised by Alex Gray with the tune composed by James Gray
J The Silver Triumph devised by Stewart Adam, with the tune Brian and Elizabeth’s Silver Celebration composed by Iain MacPhail
S Perpetua devised by Elizabeth Harry with the tune Brian’s Strathspey composed by Moira Reekie
R Fancy That - One Hundred Years devised by Theresa MacVarish Clark and the tune Fancy that composed by Pete Clark
J Corstorphine Fair devised by the late Margaret Hunter and the tune composed by the late Nan Main
S The Water of Leith devised by John Wilkinson with the tune The Games 2014 composed by Graeme Munro
R Strictly Scottish devised by the late Bob Grant with the tune composed by Doreen McKerron
We were delighted to have two of the musicians from our new Centenary CD playing for us; Peter Shand (piano) and Tim Macdonald (fiddle). The demonstration was organised and choreographed by Elizabeth Harry and Theresa MacVarish Clark.
You can watch the medley here.
We hope we brought dancers a flavour of the exciting new dances and music in our Centenary book of dances. These are a testament to the talent and skills of our members and friends in Edinburgh and we hope will be a lasting legacy of the past one hundred years and danced for many more.
Thanks to Elizabeth Harry for the blog.
