Glasgow Dancers at Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games 2024

Glasgow Dancers at Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games 2024

Glasgow Branch was delighted to participate for a second consecutive year at the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games. Glasgow dancers who mainly attend the branch dance classes in the Milngavie and Bearsden area gave a demonstration at this hugely popular event in the local calendar.

The dancers’ performance on the Granville Market, Shiftin’ Bobbins, Summer Assembly and The Highland Rambler was well received by the audience. Our dancers did a sterling job of highlighting the joy of Scottish Country Dancing accompanied by wonderfully uplifting music by John Carmichael. We also had a stall at the event. The Scottish music played at our stall did its magic and our stall was well visited by event visitors as well as friends from the branch.

We would like to thank all our Branch volunteers for their support and enthusiasm: our dancers Douglas Cameron, Ina Cameron, Gale McCallum, Lilias Wotherspoon, Hilary Wood, Margaret Tough, Lyndsey Brown, Ian Johnson, Marion Cusick, Pauline Briody and Anne Murray, Hilary Wood for hosting the practice, Muriel Bone for her encouragement and support, Aileen McKenzie for taking charge of the stalls and friends from the branch for coming out on a blustery but mostly bright Saturday to support us.

The outreach team, led by Anne Murray have a good line up of public engagement activities planned for our branch this year. We look forward to engage with the community through Scottish Country Dancing.
