Sue Duckett receives Scroll of Honour

Scroll of Honour

Sue Duckett, a member of the Cheshire Branch, was awarded an RSCDS Scroll of Honour in 2023.  As Sue was unable to travel to Glasgow for the AGM, her Scroll was presented at the Cheshire Branch AGM, held on Wednesday 15th May 2024.

A member of the RSCDS since the 1950s, Sue’s outstanding contribution to Scottish country dancing lies in the activities associated with the publication of ‘Scottish Country Dancing in Diagrams’.  The 9th and final edition of what became known as ‘the wee green book’ was published in 2017.  Copies were sold internationally and welcomed as an additional resource, especially for non-English speakers.  At its height, for a new edition, over 200,000 copies were sold.

Profits from the publication have, since 1997, provided an annual scholarship for one week to attend Summer School. In addition Sue has, over the years, encouraged many dancers to attend RSCDS events to improve their skills and many qualified teachers today were mentored and encouraged by Sue.

Congratulations Sue!
