CLASSES

GENERAL CLASS (current level is Intermediate/Advanced, but with a substantial number of newbies - see below) : weekly from September 2023 to the end of May 2024. Thursdays 7.30 to 9.30pm in the Guide Hut, off Victoria Park, Lockerbie. £4.00 per session. Dancing to CDs.
Teacher : Gillian Hardstone (email : hardstone59 @ hotmail.com )

All classes start at 7.30pm prompt. Please arrive beforehand in good time to change into your dancing shoes. Hand sanitiser is provided.

2023-24 season : General Classes restarted on Thursday 5th October, 2023.
The 2023-24 season's Branch class now has a full complement of newbies and returners, who are learning SCD within the general class.

Autumn Term finishes on Thursday 21st December 2023.
Please note change of date for our class 'Xmas party dance' : the previous Thursday, 14th December 2023, will be our party dance night for Branch members, regular visiting dancers, and invited guests only. Not that we wouldn't love to see you all there, but dance space in our wee hall is limited.

In 2024, Spring Term classes begin on Thursday, 11th January, 2024, and run until Thursday 30th May, 2024, which will also be an end-of-year party dance for Branch members, regular visitors, and invited guests. Depending on when the Easter 2024 holiday falls, we may have a one-week break (or not).

In June, July and August there will be one class each month, to prepare members for the August series of Moffat Summer Dances.

UPCOMING BRANCH EVENTS

Our Spring 2024 Nice and Easy Dance will be held at Longtown Community Centre, 7.30pm, Saturday, 2nd March 2024. Band : Colin Dewar and his SCD Band. Bring and Share Buffet Supper. Raffle. Tickets £10.00.
This is one of our long-standing joint ventures with RSCDS Carlisle and Borders, Cockermouth CDC and Penrith CDC.

We started these twice-yearly Nice and Easy Dances in 2012, in order to introduce all our beginners and newer dancers to the social dancing side of SCD, with the opportunity to meet dancers from other SCD groups and to become part of the wider SCD community. Our dances provide a relaxed and enjoyable evening, with great live bands, a straightforward programme, and a fantastic bring and share buffet supper.

Live music, dancing, a friendly atmosphere, and food : what more could you want ?

2024-25 Season
Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, please let us know in good time if you are interested in 'dancing Scottish', and we will add you to our list for a possible additional Newbies and Returners class. Again, if there are only small numbers of new starters/returners, we will welcome and integrate you into the general class in September 2024.
