York Scottish Country Dance Club

Group profile

Club nights are held in English Martyrs' Church Hall, Dalton Terrace, on Monday evenings, from September to June. (See below) Hall doors will normally be open at 7:00pm, with dancing from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. A short break is taken half way through the evening for light refreshments.
The Club aims to cater for all levels of dancer, to provide a supportive social atmosphere in a friendly setting.
If you just want to try out Scottish Country Dancing without commitment, are just visiting York, or are unable to come along more than a few nights per year, you are very welcome to come along and join in on our sessions without becoming a member. First visits are always free.
Most dances are walked through at least once before dancing with the music. Dancing is normally to recorded music, with occasional live music.
The Club has about 60 members and there are normally between three and five sets on Monday evenings.
You can come along on your own, or with a partner, as dancing partners usually change for each dance during the evening.
No special clothes are needed, other than soft shoes suitable for dancing.
