Come along and join in a weekend of fun, fitness and friendship in a brand-new RSCDS event designed for all families, together with dancers aged 40 and under.

Fees 

Below is the pricing structure for the Families and Friends Weekend 2026.

+ If you would like to bring a pre-schooler (under 5 and not yet at school) to the Families and Friends Weekend, please get in touch with us at [email protected] and we will get back to you.

The weekend price will include:  

  • both Friday and Saturday evening dances
  • Saturday class and activities
  • Sunday activities 
  • food (finger buffet on Friday evening, sandwich lunch on Saturday, two-course buffet on Saturday evening and a sandwich lunch on Sunday)

Teachers and Musicians

We are excited to be joined by teachers Alasdair Brown, Grace Hill and Janet Johnston for the weekend's classes.

Class Musicians
We are delighted to welcome Susan MacFadyen on accordion and Shona MacFadyen on fiddle to play for the weekend's classes.

Evening Musicians
Playing for both the Friday evening ceilidh and the Saturday evening dance, we are thrilled to be joined by Susan MacFadyen on accordion and Shona MacFadyen on fiddle.

The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society is under no obligation whatsoever in respect of any personal injury which you may sustain and you agree to conform to any rules or regulations which may be made from time to time and which govern your visit to the Families and Friends Weekend.

Refunds

Every effort will be made to provide refunds up to Monday 29th June 2026. Refunds will not be made for cancellations after this date. All refunds will be subject to an administrative charge of £10 per person. Attendees are strongly advised to have suitable insurance to cover any loss of fees in the event of illness, injury or other unavoidable circumstance.

Cancellation Policy

If, due to circumstances outside our control, we are required to cancel the Families and Friends Weekend then we will inform all attendees and a full refund will be provided. The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society shall assume no liability for any losses resulting from individual pre-booked travel and accommodation. Please check your personal travel insurance policy.

Insurance

Attendees are strongly advised to have suitable insurance to cover any loss of fees in the event of illness, injury or other unavoidable circumstance.

This is a non-residential weekend and attendees will be responsible for booking their own accommodation if required. A list of just some of the accommodation on offer in and around Moffat can be found below.  Please note that accommodation is not endorsed by the RSCDS. 

Families and Friends Weekend 2026: The Hill Family Scholarships

Scholarship applications are open to family groups where at least 1 young dancer (under 18) and 1 adult (18+) are attending the Families and Friends weekend. 

Maximum of 2 adults and 2 young dancers.  Intended for dependent(s) dancer(s), and their parent(s)/legal guardian(s). Young dancer(s) must be under 18 years old.
