Who was Derek Haynes?

Derek Haynes was a much-loved Society country dance and Highland teacher in the latter part of the 20th century, and also a regular deviser of dances. The Carnforth Collections were published between 1991 and 2008 by Derek and his wife Maureen, and comprise 60 dances, many demonstrating the innovation for which he had become well-known.

The new publication

It is with great pleasure that this year the Society has published The Carnforth Collections Volume 1, covering the first three collections in one book, together with a recording made by Liam Stewart and his Band.
