A Ceilidh isn’t about getting every step right—it’s about taking part and enjoying the experience. The dances are easy to learn and quick to pick up. The band – or sometimes a Caller – takes you through the steps. And everyone else gives a helping hand.
You don’t need lessons, special clothing or even a partner. You just step onto the floor and give it a go. Before long, you’ll be spinning around, moving up and down the set, and meeting new people.

Live bands featuring fiddle, accordion, piano and drums play lively jigs and reels that fill the room with incredible energy. The word “Ceilidh” (pronounced kay-lee) comes from the Gaelic word for a gathering. Today, Ceilidhs are enjoyed across Scotland and around the world.
