GENERAL
The School is
open to members of the Society over the age of 16, on a residential basis only.
Applicants have
a choice of two courses this year and completed forms should be returned as
soon as possible and before 15 July. Late applications may be considered if space is available.
ACCOMMODATION
Please note, when you are completing the application form, that most of the
accommodation offered in the hotel is based on shared accommodation with either twin beds or double bed, or in a
family room, sleeping three. Please indicate with whom you wish to share. If you do not do so the
hotel will allocate you to a room.
There are a
very limited number of single occupancy rooms. These
are allocated on a 'first come first served basis'.
There are a
limited number of spaces for non-dancing partners, sharing a room. Non-dancing partners may not attend classes,
may attend social dances in the hotel as spectators and may apply for a ticket
for the ball at Blair Castle, to be paid for on arrival.
FEES
The fee for the Winter School will be £485.00 per person if sharing a room, £497.00 for single occupancy and £430.00 for a non-dancing partner. Fees
include dinner, bed and breakfast. Lunch may be purchased in the hotel if
wished. Fees for dancers also include all classes and social dances, transfer
(by bus) and ticket for Blair Castle.
CLASSES
It is hoped to have Scottish country dance classes at Intermediate, Advanced
and Very Advanced levels. The classes offered will depend on demand.
There will be classes on four mornings from 9.45am - 11.15am and 11.30am -
12.30pm. There will be optional activities on some afternoons. .
SOCIAL DANCING
There will be social dancing each evening from 8.15pm - 10pm, commencing
on Sunday. Wednesday will be a more relaxed evening - a ceilidh. On Thursday there
will be a ball in Blair Castle from 8.30pm - 11.00pm, the cost of this is
included in the fee. Please bring formal dress if possible.
BOOKLET
A booklet detailing the classes, teachers, musicians, evening dance programmes
and any additional events will be provided upon receipt of the balance of your
fee.
SHOP
The shop will be open and dates and time will be confirmed nearer the
time. Because of space our shop stock will be limited and we will only be
able to fill branch orders if the order is received at Headquarters in advance.
Other branch orders will be forwarded to Headquarters for completion.
REGISTRATION
Your room will be available from 2.00pm on Sunday 20 February for Course 1
and Sunday 27 February for Course 2. Guests should aim to arrive in time to
attend the wine reception at 5.15pm before the evening dinner. Guests should
vacate their rooms after breakfast on the final morning and return their
keys to the hotel desk.
