Branch profile
We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and friendly group of dancers and always welcome visitors and beginners to our classes and social events. We are extremely fortunate that the Bournemouth Caledonian Society allow us to use their very fine hall with it's semi-sprung floor which is ideal for our dancing.
We currently hold two major events each year, a Christmas Afternoon Tea Dance and Summer Afternoon Tea Dance with either Strathallan or members of Craigellachie providing inspiring music for us to dance to.
We donate the proceeds of our raffles to the local Air Ambulance.
Many members support other local groups at their regular weekly meetings and formal dances and always endeavour to encourage others to accompany them.
A dedicated group attend Summer School in St Andrews every summer as well as supporting various dancing holidays.
The Branch is fortunate to have 5 qualified RSCDS teachers.
For 25 years our Branch had a thriving group of Junior members (Macaulay Dancers) with classes three times a week. Of those youngsters who stayed with us until 18 years of age before leaving for University, five went on to become fully qualified RSCDS teachers and another two have completed Units 1, 2 and 3. Sadly in the last few years we have been unable to recruit new children or young people so our junior classes had to close.
In the past the Branch ran three very successful Teacher Training Courses and provided four teams of dancers to take part in a number of Scottish Tattoos in the Royal Albert Hall.
