The International Branch (IB) started in 2004, with 32 founder members spread over many countries. The number quickly rose to 62 with the early addition of many former Headquarters members. From thereon, the membership has steadily grown and by the end of 2020 there were over 400 paid up members, and over half of those pay their RSCDS subscription through the IB. IB members receive the quarterly IB Newsletter, packed full of news and photos from SCD around the world. The number of countries represented in the IB never ceases to amaze: We are represented on 5 Continents and in over 27 countries and it is now par for the course that, wherever in the world a workshop is taking place, you can be sure to meet other IB Members. It cannot be said that we do not interact socially!

The IB organises, in partnership with a local SCD group, an International Event somewhere in the world about every 2 years, and always in a different location. Events are opened to IB members first, at a preferential rate and sell out quickly!

In memory of a Founder Member of the IB, the memorial Susi Mayr Fund helps support SCD internationally in different ways. The IB website gives you more information.

We meet electronically for an on-line AGM that is open for a week each December to all members and encourage all countries and time zones to participate in our business and planning.

Who are our members? They are people who share a love of Scottish Country Dancing and recognise that SCD is an international pastime that transcends borders. Some, with no local group to dance with, want RSCDS membership while others are RSCDS members through the local Branch they dance with but also belong to the IB as an additional membership. We are proud of the fact that we have a number of brilliant musician members. Hopefully all our members will stay with us for a long time to come.
