New Haven

Branch profile

The RSCDS New Haven Branch dates back to 1977; we celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2017.
Connecticut, bordered on the south by the Long Island Sound, is about halfway between New York City and Boston, both whose venerable RSCDS Branches celebrated their 50th anniversaries some time ago. In keeping with tradition, our Branch adopted the name New Haven, the city where the first Connecticut class met.
There are presently five classes meeting throughout the state. Most meet weekly from September to late May/early June. The New Haven class continues through the summer. Please check our website (www.nhrscds.com) for details, including class contacts, locations, days/times. Each class also hosts an occasional party. All dancers are welcome to attend! Before making a special trip, check in advance, as there are occasionally exceptions when classes do not meet.
Our Branch’s annual Highland Ball, held the first Saturday in March, attracts dancers from Maine to Virginia. A warm welcome is extended to all. We particularly delight in visitors from far afield - Canada, the Western states, “Across the Pond”. A Sunday Brunch follows: different venue, same band, wonderful food and lots more dancing. The annual Kilts & Ghillies Tea Dance is usually scheduled for the last Saturday in April and in late October the Branch often hosts the Nutmeg Workshop with visiting teachers. (A nickname for “Connecticut” is “The Nutmeg State”!)
We make every effort to keep our website up-to-date!
