CURRENT NEWS:
17th December 2025 we celebrated our 100th anniversary enjoying an 'Afternoon Tea Dance' in our current premises, St John's Sscottish Episcopal Church Hall, Jamaica Street, Greenock. Over 65 current and past members attended and Inverclyde Provost Drew Mckenzie gave a congratulatory speech following on from Mrs Joan Pow, Chair's, welcoming speech. Mrs Pow then cut the cake and afternoon tea was enjoyed by all. Our teacher, Mrs Vera Mckechnie has devised a new dance called 'West Renfrewshire Centenary Jig' to celebrate this momentous event and this was demonstrated by some current members. All guests were invited to join in dancing 'Mhairi's Wedding' and 'Ross Strathspey', the remainder of the afternoon was time toreflect, catch up ad enjoy the company of so many friends.

Here are some quotes from comments received afterwards:
'Thanks for a lovely afternoon. Wonderful to see so many people that I haven't seen for a long time.'
'Just to let you know that I have sent a request ro Gary Innes on Yur Requests to congratulate you all on your Centenary. I hope he plays it on Sunday night.' H B
'A big Thank You to all the members of West Renfrewshire Branch for inviting us to the celebration of your Centenary. It was amazing to think that, exactly 100 years before, the Branch had been founded in Greenock - a very special day indeed.' R R
'Apart from the delicious afternoon tea, it was wonderful to meet up with friends whom we haven't seen for quite a while. The demonstration of West Renfrewshire Centenary Jig was splendid and I look forward to dancing it in the Town Hall at your Centenary Ball in March.' H & R B
'It was a great honour to be sitting at the top table; I cannot think why, but much appreciated nevertheless.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming; the speeches short and interesting and the tea very appetising.
It was nice to be able to dance the Ross Strathspey. I hadn’t realised that Vera’s maiden name was Ross.' C & M S
'Thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon - so many thanks to yourself and the committee. I know these events involve a lot of preparation but it was worth all your time and effort both in locating former members and arranging the event itself.' A W
'What a spread of goodies you all so kindly provided, smiles all around and what an amazing atmosphere ! I met so many dancers/friends I hadn’t seen for such a long time, among some new people I was introduced to.' J S
