Branch profile
Profile, June 2018
The branch was established in 1983 by members of the Liverpool Branch living on the Wirral peninsula. Wirral is a metropolitan borough surrounded by the Rivers Dee and Mersey and the Irish Sea between Liverpool and North Wales.
We provide three classes over two nights in two locations, dancing from September to early July broken into three terms. The beginners/intermediate class provides structured teaching of steps, formations and dances in a supportive environment with an attitude of fun. This is followed by a general class where early session dances are suitable for the beginners to try with help. The third class offers social dancing for the more experienced. This class enables us to enjoy the more complex dances, test new ones and those on programmes from other groups in the region.
Once a year we invite local groups to spend an evening with us sharing our general class with a refreshment break. We regularly run sessions for youth groups such as Brownies, have a demonstration team and lead ceilidhs for local organisations.
During the year we have a Christmas and Summer Dance, the latter with live music. These are both enjoyable and well supported. We offer recaps and walk-throughs where necessary which have proved welcome.
At the end of each term we produce a newsletter which is available on our website www.rscds-wirral.org.uk.
