Manchester Branch celebrate their 90th Anniversary

RSCDS Manchester Branch cutting cake for their 90th Anniversary

On the last day of May this year we held our celebration dance, in St Matthew's Hall in Manchester.  Over 80 dancers, from every age group from their 20s to their 90s joined us to celebrate this milestone.

Along with old favourites the programme included two dances from our new book - "Manchester Gay Gordons" (written by David Queen) and "Summer Classes” (written by Branch Secretary Rob Kinnon-Brettle).  There are still copies of the book available with Màrtainn Skene playing the music on the accompanying CD.

The cake was cut by our Branch Chair (Barbara Handley), Valerie Woodward (one of our Vice-Chairs) and Val Morris (a Life Member who still regularly dances with us).

The celebrations continued the next day with an afternoon tea reunion held at the Jumbo Community Centre in Middleton.  There was a convivial hubbub as friendships were renewed and memories shared, as people from Scotland, Lincolnshire, London and Wales (amongst other places) came together.
