RSCDS & SATPE – Scotland World Cup Ceilidh Week

Junior RSCDS Dancers at an event

As part of the Youth Services Committee’s ongoing efforts to share the joy of Scottish Country Dancing with as many young people as possible, we’re delighted to be partnering with SATPE for Ceilidh Week 2026.

Every year, children in schools across Scotland learn Scottish Country Dancing in the run-up to Christmas and Burns Night. Many of us look back on those lessons with fond memories – while others may remember them with a slight cringe! This year, we’re supporting schools by providing resources to help teachers show just how much fun Scottish Country Dancing can be.

To tie in with Scotland’s football World Cup qualifying team, the dances for Ceilidh Week have been given a special rebrand. Schools across the country are being encouraged to join in with an extra skip in their step, celebrating Scottish culture, dance and sport more than ever before. Highlights include the specially created World Cup Wheech, designed by SATPE in collaboration with Penpont Primary School in Dumfries & Galloway, paying tribute to the goal scorers who sent Scotland to the World Cup.

Packs are already winging their way to schools across Scotland, and we can’t wait to see the photos and videos that follow. Here’s to inspiring the next generation of Scottish Country Dancers!
