Celebration dance in Aberdeen
April 3, 2023
Aberdeen Branch Chairman Sheila Bain has been in touch to share details of their recent Spring dance. Thank you for sharing Sheila!
On Friday 10th March Aberdeen Branch held our Spring dance & special celebration for the RSCDS Centenary Year. We had particularly bad weather three days beforehand but on the day there was no snow and we were delighted to welcome around 100 dancers on to the floor of Ashdale Hall in Westhill.
The music from the Ewan Galloway four piece Band was fantastic, the dancers really appreciated them and Ewan, Andrew Knight, Alastair McGirr & Ian Graham responded well to the super applause at the end of each dance.
We had a drinks reception to begin the evening then at interval we had special cupcakes with the RSCDS logo on them which were tasty and well admired, thanks to Anna Smail for the idea & sourcing the goods.
William Williamson our Chairman was already booked at the other end of the country on Saturday when I invited him so made travelling to Aberdeen impossible. Fortunately, the Society's Chair Elect Gary Coull was delighted to come along and tell our dancers all about the Centenary celebrations & even mentioned gin & whisky!
A super night of dancing was had by us all, our programme included five Dances from the Decades which were all enjoyed very much.
Thanks to the Aberdeen committee for all their hard work in organising the event.
