An Honour for Liz

Members at Cheshire Branch AGM

At their AGM on the 14th May the RSCDS Cheshire Branch conferred Honorary Life Membership of the Branch on founder member, Liz Bruynooghe.  Liz was presented with a framed certificate by outgoing Chairperson, Anne MacDonald.

Since the Branch was founded in 1984 Liz has been a loyal member and instrumental in both aspects of management and teaching.  Liz has served as both Secretary and Chairperson of the Branch.  Many of the current members have benefited from her clear and patient style of teaching, both the experienced and those new to dancing.

Currently Chair of the Wyche Ball Committee (a joint venture with two other local Societies), Liz wrote the dance ‘The Wyches of Cheshire’ for the inaugural Wyche Ball – the music for this dance being written by Frank Thomson.

Liz has also had a dance composed for her by a former Chairperson of the Branch, the late Stuart Ross.  ‘A Reel for Liz’ features in the Cheshire Branch 40th  Anniversary Book of Dances.

In 2012 Liz was given a Branch Award.
