Day of Dance with Cheshire Branch

Gay Gordon dance

To celebrate the Angela Rippon Day of Dance the RSCDS Cheshire Branch held a Ceilidh at Tarporley Community Centre.  We hoped to attract some people new to dancing and designed a poster which was displayed in shops, Post Offices and Health Centres at towns and villages within a 10-mile radius of the hall.  We also used social media and contacted five local Radio Stations.

On the day we had a display using some of the RSCDS promotional material, which we hoped might persuade those new to dancing of the proven health benefits.

We enjoyed music from Chris & Julie Dewhurst and two of our experienced teachers, Trish Reid and Liz Bruynooghe, prepared a varied programme and acted as callers.  We also provided light refreshments.

The afternoon was a great success, with over 50 people attending, several being totally new to Scottish Dancing.  We asked all visitors to complete a Feedback Form.  Having analysed the responses, as well as expressing interest in future Ceilidh events, several said that they would like to join our classes in September.
