Day of Dance, Let’s Dance Ceilidh
March 24, 2026
On Sunday afternoon 8th March on The National Day Of Dance, Ashill Scottish Dancers held their Let's Dance Ceilidh and it proved to be a big hit. We had forty eight dancers including a four year old, several teenagers plus mums, dads and the older generation all here to have a great time. All the dances were expertly called by local folk / ceilidh callers Bridget and Beverley, who took us through some really fun dances including The Oxo Reel, The Bridge Of Athlone, Coming Round The Mountain, Ping , The Flying Scotsman accompanied by lots of train noises, Strip The Willow and numerous others and some repeated by popular request. Our energy levels were recharged at the interval with hot drinks and lots of wonderful homemade cakes. The dancing was very energetic, lively and at times quite boisterous, but we sure know how to enjoy ourselves down here in Somerset. At the end we had a group photo. You can see all the photographs taken by Gary at the ceilidh by visiting our web site at www.ashillscd.wordpress.com The ceilidh was a huge success and we look forward to holding another one so watch this space. A big thank you to everyone involved in organising the event and a huge thank you to all who came along and danced their socks off and had lots of fun.
See you all soon,
Anita and all Ashill Scottish Dancers
