Fun at the Down Under Fringe Ceilidh

Adelaide Fringe

This March, the Adelaide and Districts Branch of the Scottish Country Dance Society partnered with the Adelaide Fringe to bring something truly special to South Australia – the very first Down Under Fringe Ceilidh! While ceilidhs are a beloved tradition in Edinburgh, this was the first time such a vibrant celebration of Scottish music, dance, and culture took place as part of the iconic Adelaide Fringe. And let’s just say, it exceeded all expectations!

From the moment the music started, the energy in the room was electric. Over 50 attendees from all walks of life joined in the festivities, diving into the dances with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure. Whether you were a seasoned dancer or a first-timer, there was no shortage of fun or laughter. The incredible Adelaide Ceilidh Band (https://www.facebook.com/people/Adelaide-Ceilidh-Band/61551914840051/) kept the atmosphere lively with their infectious tunes that had everyone tapping their feet and moving to the rhythm.

A special shout-out goes to Barbara, our Branch President, who called the dances and guided everyone through the steps. Her warm, welcoming energy made it easy for everyone to join in, with most people being first timers!

But why stop here? We’re already looking forward to next year, when the Fringe Ceilidh will return to Adelaide! If you missed out this year, don’t make the same mistake twice. Get ready to step out, move your feet, and join us for an afternoon of unforgettable fun.

Whether you're a local or visiting from afar, you won’t want to miss it. We can’t wait to see you here, joining in the celebration of music, movement, and community spirit.  See you next year in February-March 2026.
