DST - Centenary celebrations get underway

NZ President's Ball

Branches and Affiliated Groups around the world are preparing for a year of celebrations to mark the Centenary of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

Celebrations got underway in New Zealand at their President's Ball:

New Zealand Branch started the worldwide 2023 RSCDS centenary year celebrations during Summer School in Auckland with Hogmanay ceremonies at midnight on New Year’s Eve.  At the President’s Ball held two days later, the NZ Branch President Linda Glavin welcomed around 150 dancers at pre-Ball drinks, followed by a Grand March.  Dancers enjoyed a full programme, dancing to Aileen Logie’s Scottish Country Dance Band.

A celebratory cake marking the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society centenary was cut by the NZ Branch President together with Life Members Doug Mills, Debbie Roxburgh and Elaine Laidlaw.

Please do share any Centenary events you are hosting and we'd love to see photos so that we may share on social media and in future Dance Scottish Together newsletters.
