DST - Welcome from the new Chair

RSCDS Chair and Chair Elect

William Williamson, Chairman and Gary Coull, Chairman-Elect

I am delighted to have this opportunity to say hello to you personally.

At the AGM of the Society in Glasgow recently, I became Chairman of the RSCDS and it is a huge honour and privilege to lead the organisation as we look forward to the Centenary year.

As a member, you are the RSCDS and week by week, along with our teachers and musicians, you meet friends to enjoy this unique and wonderful activity.

I am aware that the past few years have been difficult for members across the world however we provide fun, fitness, friendship and an inexpensive activity for our communities with a particular emphasis on friendship. I know that everyone is working very hard to build and renew our dancing events after the Covid pandemic. By supporting your local Branch or Group, you are ensuring that Scottish country dancing will be here for future generations to enjoy.

There are many events planned to celebrate the Centenary of our Society and I hope you will be able to join in celebrations wherever in the world you are dancing. My sincere wish is that you will feel part of our special international family.

I am also delighted to invite you to become a Friend of the RSCDS. This is a new initiative, launched at the AGM in November, that gives everyone the opportunity, if they so wish, to give extra financial support to the Society as we look ahead to a new century of dancing. Information on becoming a Friend is available on the Website or from the Office.

On behalf of Chair Elect Gary Coull, Treasurer Lizzy Conder and the Members of the Board, I wish you well and look forward to meeting many of you during this special year.

William
