A first for Ashill SCD

Ashill SCD Tea Dance

Ashill Scottish Country dancers enjoyed a very successful Summer Sunday Tea dance at Horton Village Hall Nr Ilminster, Somerset on the 9th June.

This was the very first time that we had musicians for the event and we were very pleased to welcome Ian and Judith Muir to play for us. The music was just superb and just the right tempo for our less experienced dancers. The hall was packed with seven sets of our enthusiastic dancing friends from Chardstock, West Camel, Wells, Taunton, Exeter, Bristol and Cardiff and we only just managed to squeeze everyone in!

After a very energetic first half starting with The Happy Meeting and ending with Trip To Timber Ridge it was time for tea. There was a huge selection of homemade cakes on offer, including Blueberry, Lemon Drizzle, Cappuccino, Carrot and fruit cake all made by our club members and we were able to sit out on the terrace and enjoy the sunshine too. Onto the second half and more exhilarating dancing including Mrs Mapherson Of Inveran and ending with Mairi's Wedding. What a wonderful afternoon of music and dance. Ian and Judith will be playing for our Easter dance on the 13th April, so do come and join us.

Check out our web site at www.ashillscd.wordpress.com to see more photos from the event.

We meet every Tuesday at Horton village hall 7.30 to 9.30 pm all welcome to join us. We are affiliated to the RSCDS.
