Galashiels Primary schools celebrate St Andrew's Day

Galashiels St Andrew's Day ceilidh

On Thursday 28th November, around 200 children from 9 Galashiels primary schools made their way to Galashiels Academy to take part in their annual RSCDS St Andrew's Day ceilidh!

The ceilidh was the culmination of six weeks of input and practice for the young people, kindly delivered by the outstanding team of volunteer dance teachers from RSCDS Roxburgh, Selkirk and Peebles branch.

Over the six weeks the children all learnt how to do the Charleston Chaser, the Virginia Reel and the Waratah Weaver to name a few.  A great opportunity to get active and learn about our culture, music and dance that really will be a long term life skill.

Thanks to Galashiels Active Schools and Roxburgh Selkirk and Peebles Branch for the photos and text.
