King’s Service Medal

Audrey Mattinson of Rangiora

Audrey Mattinson of Rangiora (near Christchurch) in New Zealand was awarded the King’s Service Medal in the King’s Birthday Honours announced in New Zealand on 2 June.  The award is for services to Scottish Country Dancing and the community.

The King’s Service Medal is wonderful recognition of Audrey’s efforts bringing the joy of Scottish Country Dancing to hundreds of people, teaching at three different clubs in the Canterbury Region for over thirty years.   Audrey officially retired as a teacher in 2024 and was presented with an outdoor swing seat for her enjoyment in retirement.  But we can’t hold her back and she continues to help out at a local club.  And supports us all at club dances in the Christchurch area.

"Well done and well deserved, Audrey." Liz Hickey , Region President
