RSCDS Centenary Ball
April 3, 2023
Scottish country dancers from around the world came together on Saturday 25th March to celebrate 100 years of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society with a Centenary Ball at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.
The stunning venue provided a wonderful backdrop for these special celebrations. Dancing took place in the Music Room and the Ballroom, with music provided by Marian Anderson and her Band and David Oswald and his Band.
Upon arrival, attendees were gifted their souvenir Ball programme and whisky glass before making their way up to the Ballroom for the official welcome by Chair William Williamson, Chair Elect Gary Coull and Depute Lord Provost Lezley Marion Cameron.
Dancing commenced in both halls and included The Flowers of Edinburgh, The Celebration Strathspey and Farewell to Balfour Road before breaking for anniversary cake. After the break, dancing recommenced to include Good Hearted Glasgow, Duke of Perth, Neidpath Castle, finishing with The Reel of the 51st Division. The National Anthem and Auld Lang Syne rounded off a wonderful evening.
Thank you to everyone who made the night special and thank you to the Ball Committee for all their organisation.
A small selection of photos from the evening, more to follow.
