RSCDS Cheltenham's annual ball

RSCDS Cheltenham

Deputy Chair Anne Wyatt tells us about RSCDS Cheltenham's Annual Ball

We went to have fun – and this fantastic evening surpassed all expectations!

Our annual ball took place in January in the majestic Cheltenham Town Hall.  Arriving at the grand entrance with its pillars and arches gave us a real sense of occasion.  Stepping through the doors, passing the old spa pump, it felt like stepping back in time.  The elegant ball room with its balconies, high ceiling and chandeliers was positively glittering – such glamour!

An excited buzz of conversation filled the air as we gathered with and greeted friends (more than 100), many of whom had travelled long distances.

The first chord lit the fuse and what followed was truly a feast for the senses.  The fabulous Craigellachie were on their very best form playing the most uplifting tunes and inspiring us to dance even better. The beautifully sprung floor ensured we could keep going!  It was wonderful to see so many happy smiling faces, friends dressed in a riot of brightly coloured dresses and kilts, everybody having the most amazing time.  We welcomed the break to catch up on all the news and enjoy a light supper before continuing with the varied and joyful programme that was such a delight with many familiar dances and plenty of circles towards the end which ended the evening on an absolute high.

A hard act to follow!!  Next year we will be at the equally prestigious Cheltenham Ladies College and some people have already reserved a ticket!  We hope to see you there!
