Scots Bonnet hold workshop
June 3, 2024
Scots Bonnet, a small affiliated group of dancers, located only 3 miles from the beautiful Pink Granite Coast in Brittany, France, held a workshop and a ball on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th April.
Paris Branch Teacher Violaine Esseyric understood that most of the participants had been dancing for many years and so offered us a very interesting programme with dances we were less familiar with.
As well as the practice of the usual steps, we learned the Highland Schottische, the Glasgow Highlanders setting step and the pas de bas coupé. Nobody knew the clogwheel formation that we learned together with two different versions of the poussette in waltz hold. That was fun !
We also learned ‘Sharing ice cream with the angels’ written by Violaine in memory of musician Alan Ross. The title of this dance will have special meaning to Alan’s friends.
Two musicians from the Paris Band, Pascaline Latour (flute) and Christophe Schuwey (keyboard) played a lively musical set which contributed to the overall success of the two days.
Join us for our next event from 28th to 30th June. You can find more information here - https://www.scots-bonnet.fr/fr.
