St Andrew’s Scottish Ball in Pisa for 100 years of RSCDS
On Sunday 26th November Circolo Pisano della Società di Danza, an RSCDS affiliated group in Italy since 1997, organised the annual St Andrew’s Scottish Ball to celebrate this year, the 100th year of the RSCDS, gathering dancers from all over Tuscany and further afield (Firenze, Pisa, Livorno, Lucca, Viareggio, Pistoia, Prato, Bologna, Modena).
We had live music by the Ceilitaly Scottish Band and a dance programme with traditional dances including La Tempete, Flowers of Edinburgh, Dei’l Among the Tailors, and more recent ones the Aviator and Scott Meikle, a tribute to St Andrew with the Diamond Jubilee. Some dances also from the last book 53 of RSCDS, including The Galloping Carousel.
We all enjoyed the dances and music together in the lively and happy atmosphere of the ball.
In the Ball we celebrated the centenary Society recalling the history, and we are proud to be part of such a great dancing network.
We remember various special RSCDS teachers we had in Pisa in the past year. We look forward the next year event when we are going to celebrate our first 30 years.
