Dancing The Flying Scotsman around the world
February 24, 2023
Last year we invited RSCDS Branches and Affiliated Groups across the world to film themselves dancing The Flying Scotsman for a Centenary project. We can now reveal the outcome of this project...
Friday 24th February 2023 marks 100 years since Flying Scotsman – the world’s most famous steam locomotive – embarked on its first voyage from the sheds at Doncaster Works. Now a national treasure, Flying Scotsman is a star attraction in the collection of the National Railway Museum (part of the Science Museum Group) in York, where it is a working museum exhibit. What better way to celebrate both centenaries than a collaboration between RSCDS and Flying Scotsman!
We're delighted to be able to share this video with you all now after a fantastic launch at Edinburgh Waverley, with the locomotive herself! You can view more photos from this event here.
We hope you enjoy watching the truly global reach of Scottish country dancing and share with us your memories of this dance.
